Who We Are

C.A.R.E.4Paws works to reduce pet overpopulation, keep animals out of shelters, and improve quality of life for pets and pet owners in need in Santa Barbara County.

What We Do

A 501(c)3 nonprofit, C.A.R.E.4Paws was founded in 2009 with the goal to alleviate the burden of Santa Barbara County's overcrowded shelters and change the future for animals in this community and beyond. Our founders, all longtime shelter volunteers, looked at the reasons why animals end up in shelters and designed programs to tackle these issues. Our services include free spays/neuters for low-income pet owners, intervention programs that keep animals in their homes, bilingual community outreach, and Paws Up for Pets, a brand-new youth program that inspires compassion and accountability for animals and empathy in our community as a whole.

Every year, we host Wags n' Whiskers, the largest animal festival and pet adoption event on California’s Central Coast. Our 2017 festival takes place October 7 at West Campus, Santa Barbara City College.
